The health of the global stainless steel industry has been widely dominated by the events that has happened in China. Raw material prices exploded as a result of the rapid expansion of the Chinese Stainless steel industry who produced last year 52 % of the global output. However, it collapsed in 2015 as the 20-year long expansion there came to a sudden halt. Now virtually everyone in the industry has to re-write the textbook for the coming years and adjust its strategy accordingly.
